The 11th International Librarians’ Conference

The 11th International Librarians’ Conference “Western Balkan Information Literacy” will be held along the traditional manifestation known as “June on Una River” from 11-14 June 2014 in Bihac, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Main topic of conference is: Embracing Relentless Change: Information Literacy and Lifelong Learning in a Digital Age.

The conference organizers are The County and University Library of Bihac (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Limerick Institute of Technology (Ireland) and University of Bihac (Bosnia and Herzegovina).

Welcome to the International Librarians’ Conference “June on Una River 2014” official web page. The conference is dedicated to the following subject: “Embracing Relentless Change: Information Literacy and Lifelong Learning in a Digital Age”.

Support to the Conference’ organisation was done by The Government of Una-sana canton - Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, and Municipality of Bihać city.

Conference Fees

The Conference participation fee: 150,00 €. The participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina are granted 50% reduced fees. The Conference fees are to be paid at the Conference Registration Point on 11 June 2014. If you or your institution/company wish to pay by credit card or bank transfer please send an email to Padraig Kirby- Limerick Institute of Technology Padraig.Kirby@lit.ie . The fees cover following: the conference’ participation, accommodation booking, lunches, refreshments during the conference, conference material (bag, Proceedings Book, notebook, accreditation), A/V filming of the conference.

Instructions to the papers’ authors

Participants who want to present the paper at the conference are to send an abstract together with the registration form by e-mail on: kbbi.bihac@bih.net.ba

The abstract acceptance/refusal note will be sent back NLT 15 days after the abstract reception by the organizers.

All accepted papers will be published in the Conference Proceeding Book and distributed to all participants at the conference.

The organizers hold all rights of publishing the accepted papers.

Activities

All participants will be offered some sightseeing tours during the conference, in the working days’ afternoon, such as: rafting tour on Una river, visit to Serb orthodox monastery Rmanj from the 15th century, visit to the Plitvice lakes National Park (in Croatia), visiting the castle Ostrožac.

The prices for those events will be made at the later stage, pending on number of the participants.

    The castle is located on the top of the mountain, 15 km away from Bihac city. The first official source about the castle dates from 1286, although there are some relevant data even from 405 B.C. The presentation of Bosnian history at the spot of a National monument, with a professional lecturer who will make the castle history close to the visitors. An unforgettable tour.

    The monastery is located 45 km away from Bihac city, in the awesome canyon of Unac river. The first written data about the monastery go down to 1498, the time of the Turks arrival to Bosnia, although there is some evidence about its even much older history. Despite the fact that the monastery has been destroyed many times, the monks live and work in, and it plays an active role in the Serb orthodox church nowadays. The monastery is located in the heart of the National park of Una river, on the wonderful waterfalls and in the picturesque environment. Unforgettable moments of the far past, history and amazing natural beauty that stay in your memory forever.

It is the oldest national park in Southeast Europe and the largest national park in Croatia (approx. 300 km2 the UNESCO World Heritage list, among the first natural sites worldwide. The park consists from 16 lakes being interconnected, with lots of cascades. More than a milion of tourists from all over the world visit the park every year. You will be delighted by the nature being untouched for more than a century, as well as wonderful flora and fauna. ). The national park was founded in 1949, and since 1979 is registered into the UNESCO World Heritage list, among the first natural sites worldwide. The park consists from 16 lakes being interconnected, with lots of cascades. More than a milion of tourists from all over the world visit the park every year. You will be delighted by the nature being untouched for more than a century, as well as wonderful flora and fauna.
